Bu pontydd yn angenrheidiol erioed er mwyn hwyluso taith pobl a nwyddau. Yn y gyfrol hon disgrifir pob math o bontydd ers y cyfnod cynnar. Mae llawer ohonynt yn hen iawn ac maent wedi cyfrannu'n helaeth at hanes Eryri gan ychwanegu llawer at olygfeydd yr ardal.
Gwybodaeth Bellach:
It is a great tribute to the old bridge builders that they still stand today, a testament to their skill. Designed often for use by horse and cart, they now carry today’s heavyweight traffic.
One of the finest examples of early stone bridge construction can be seen in Betws-y-coed where Pont-y-pair spans Afon Llugwy. Some bridges have inscriptions by their builders, notably in Penmachno whilst a few are set in remote areas. One such is Pont Llaeron, ‘the bridge to nowhere’ above Nant Gwernol.
