Brian John is an experienced author and publisher, with more than 60 titles to his name. Most of his books have been about Wales. In 2001 he started to write fiction, and On Angel Mountain is his first novel.

This is the first volume of the 'Angel Mountain' saga, describing the life and times (and the extraordinary adventures) of the heroine Mistress Martha Morgan of Plas Ingli. In this book she is a young woman struggling to survive in a hostile world – and helped by her young husband, the wizard Joseph Harries, and assorted friends and servants whom she comes to call her "angels".

The mountain of Carningli is almost a character in the story – it is Martha's cathedral and the place where she finds peace. The book has been immensely popular since its publication in 2001 – reprinted twice, and with sales now totalling over 6,000. The book has been bought by Transworld Publishers, and from 2006, is published under the Corgi imprint and distributed worldwide.
