Cardiff became a city in 1905 and the capital of Wales in 1955. It has a castle, civic buildings and extensive parklands, docks, two cathedrals, three universities, concert halls and theatres and museums. A new rugby stadium and arts centre marked the millennium.

Author Biography:
Mary Traynor is an artist with a vivid interest in architectual and historical subjects. She has spent a lifetime recording Cardiff buildings, many of which have been threatened and has campaigned to save them. All the images in this book have been sketched on site. Sadly, some have been demolished over the years. This book brings the memory of them back to life in the company of her present day images of the capital.
